Barbara, The death certificate can be ordered at: http://www.health.state.ny.us/nysdoh/consumer/vr.htm The state will search up to 3 years for $22.00. Once you know the exact date of death in 1916, a search of local newspapers for an obituary will be practical. The death certificate should also give you the name of the cemetery where she is buried--you can then look for gravestone inscriptions and interment records.
