I am in error on location of Wills and Deeds of Oneida County. I have located a letter from Oneida County with the letterhead thus giving me the correct information. The Oneida County Court House houses the courtrooms, etc. Wills and Deeds are located in: (Oneida County Surrogate's Court) Oneida County Office Building 800 Park Avenue Utica, NY 13501 telephone 315-797-9230 Fax 315-797-9237 Wills are located on the 8th floor. 25 cents a page, no self service I believe the Deeds are located on the 2nd floor. 10 cents a page, self service (I think). Very old deeds are in the basement; someone is there to help you. No charge for looking thru indexes. Wills are indexed by last name then first with date of will. Deeds are indexed as Grantor (sellor) and also as Grantee (buyer), in separate books; either they sold land or they bought land. Obituaries are a wonderful source of information. If you have the time (and the date) you can view newspapers at local libraries on microfilm and make copies of the obits you find. Be sure to label (on the backs of pages) your source: library, reel #, newspaper date, etc. Good luck! Happy findings! Joyce
