An obituary from 1896: Curtiss Spinning Lee CENTER, Dec. 21.-Curtiss Spinning, aged 74 years, 5 months and 13 days, died in this village at 8 o'clock this morning of general debility. The deceased was a son of Roswell F. Spinning and Lucinda Dewey and was born in West Turin. He with his parents settled in the town of Lee in 1830. He was married to Ephemia Washburn a daughter of Morgan Washburn Jan. 27, 1858. He was a prominent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and was noted for his kindness of heart and his readiness to help where help was wanted. In his death the community mourn the loss of an exemplary citizen.The funeral will be held at the Methodist Church in this village at 1 P. M. Thursday, Dec. 25. The interment will be in Hall cemetery. Mr. Spinning is survived by his wife and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Kenyon of Watertown. G. M.
