Amy, Did a little census checking, found son Henry Arkland 36 married with a dau Fanny 2, in the 1870. Do you have this information. I am trying to discover any information linking the Arkland and Ferguson surnames. In 1850, Henry D. Arkland (16) and Gertrude Arkland(14) are living in Churchville, Monroe, NY with A.B. Palmer, Fanny Palmer(wife), Horatio Palmer(16), Anne Palmer (7) and Seth W.(6). After searching I found that Fanny Palmer is Fanny nee Ferguson, Daughter of Jeremiah Ferguson and Lucy Hollister. Jeremiah Ferguson was born in Herkimer County and died in Hartford, Conn. Records show that Mr. Ferguson owned land in Oneida county. I thought it possible the family or atleast part of may have lived in Oneida county for a bit. Time frame would be between 1820 and 1850. An extensive search of census records have turned up no clues to Henry and Gertrude Arkland's father. If anyone can find anything that might show Fanny Ferguson's marriage to a Mr. Arkland, or why she may have "custody" of these children in 1850, I would be entirely grateful.
