I am hoping someone can help me . I have found the death of a great uncle Joseph Dennison in Oct 1916 in NY Mills he was only 16 years old he died for Typhoid Fever . Did NY Mills have city directories or was it to small I don't know because I don't know the area . His parents were Thomas and Delia Dennison they had just moved from North Adams MA by 1920 they lived in Utica . I have been searching for this family for the last 12 years . New York Mills is in the directories for Utica. My ancestors are from New York Mills, and that is where I found them. New YOrk Mills is partly in Whitestown and partly in New Hartford. The part that is in New Hartford is known as the Upper Mills. Less than 100 homes there in 1860. By the time your family was there, it was mainly a Polish community, with many factories. When searching for Direcctories for this area for your time period you would need to search NH and Whitestown directories. I don't know when I'm going up again. Soon I hope.
