Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all! My one Irish line immigrated in the last half of the 1700s. John Kelty born 1750 in County Cork, Ireland, and immigrated at the age of 17. While in Lancaster, PA in 1776 he enlisted in a rifle company and ended up serving in the Revolutionary War for 4 1/2 years after being transferred to the infantry under General "Mad Anthony" Wayne! He fought in the Battles of White Plains, Princeton, and Germantown and spent the winter in Valley Forge. After the war he mustered out in New Jersey where he married Margaret Conner, also from Ireland. She was the daughter of Bryan Conner and Jane King. The Kelty's moved to New York early in their married life and lived in Westchester, Oneida and Monroe counties. He died in Peterboro, Monroe County, in 1833. I am descended from their daughter Jane Ann Kelty (1784-1862) who married David Gray (1776-1847) of Perth, Scotland. They lived in Utica and Deerfield. In 1829, their daughter Jane Ann Gray (1806-1880) married, as his second wife, Harris Northup (1793-1849) in Oneida County. Harris was the son of Remington Northup and Amy Knowles. Harris and Jane left Oneida for Brooklyn in the 1840s where Harris was one of the first to die the cholera which swept the country. Janis Parkison Rodriguez
