    1. [NYONEIDA] ROBERTS
    2. Dear List: I am trying to find information about the ROBERTS family that lived in Waterville, Town of Sangerfield, from 1925 on. John ROBERTS bought a "gents' furnishings store" in that year and moved to Waterville from Boonville (or maybe Utica), according to an article in the Boonville Herald. I have found this and several other newspaper items about the ROBERTS family at fultonhistory.com. There are articles at this site about other ROBERTS families, especially about a Mr. and Mrs. Pearl ROBERTS, which can be confusing because John ROBERTS' daughter was named Pearl. John's wife was Merle ROBERTS; I do not know her maiden name; some of these articles make me think that her maiden name may have been GILLETT. Some of the articles are about visits back and forth between Pearl ROBERTS and her friends, Doris Zimmerman and Amanda Jones. There are some items about a Miss Pearl ROBERTS who must have been about ten years older than the one I am researching. There is an item about a wedding shower held for a Miss Pearl ROBERTS in 1926. My Pearl ROBERTS would have been only ten or eleven years old in 1926 so this item must be about the other Miss Pearl Roberts. There are several items about church and school activities that are, I think, about my Pearl ROBERTS. I have the 1930 U.S. census entry for John ROBERTS' family in the Village of Waterville, Town of Sangerfield. John was 51 then (born about 1879), Merle was 39 (born about 1891), and Pearl was 14 (born about 1916). I have the 1880 Federal census for the John ROBERTS I believe to be the father of John ROBERTS. The father lived in Plainfield, Otsego County. His wife's given name was Elizabeth, and the children are William, John and Elizabeth ROBERTS. John and Elizabeth were born in Wales; their children were born in New York State. Can anyone tell me anything more about this John ROBERTS family? I am trying to find out everything I can about them here in the hope of finding the link between them and my DAVIES family in Wales. My gg grandfather, Lewis DAVIES, married Catherine ROBERTS in Bangor, Caernarvonshire, Wales, in March 1850. Lewis and his father, Richard DAVIES, were both born in Celynnin, Merionethshire, Lewis about 1814 and Richard about 1784. I am sure that there is a family relationship between Catherine ROBERTS and the two John ROBERTSes I mention above. Thank you very much for any help you can give me.
