    3. That is what I am trying to determine. My RANSOM ancestors named sons Schuyler and I don't know if it was because they were actually related in some way or just because Schuyler was a famous Rev War hero from NY? 3. Patti....Have youu explored a connection to the Phelps family in and around Camden, NY Oneida County? The name Ransom Phelps was familiar to me in the history of Camden so I pulled out "The Pioneer History of the Town of Camden" by the Mrs's Pike, Frisbie, Edic nd Conant in 1897. Here I find mention of Benjamin Phelps who m. Sally d.o. Daniel and Esther Parke in 1805...both families arriving from Ct after the Rev war when this part on NY was opened to settlers. The area settled, S/E of Camden, was for many years called Phelpsville. Benj and Sally were parents of eight children whose names are told in this book. Their son Albert (a twin with Albro) was born Feb 4, 1808 . Albert m. Martha Fish d.o.Jesse Fish esq. of Williamstown, Oswego County,NY. Albert and Martha had four children, one of whom was Charles A. Phelps who married Harriet Matoon......Charles A and Harriet Phelps have two children (the authors are speaking in the present tense...at the time of publication of this book)....their children are: Howard Matoon and Ransom Phelps. In "The Pioneer History" there is a chapter about Phelpsville--Ranney Phelps, the fourth child of Benj and Sally Phelps. Names in this chapter reporting the history of this place include MALAY/ TUTTLE SHEPARD/ YAGER /STEVENSON as names marrying into the Phelps family early. Another paragraph lists neighbors in 1839: ELISHA RANSOM, RICHARD AND JOHN ROSA, ORRAMAN TUTTLE, HORACE WILSON, ALVA HAZEN, WILLIAM WINNE AND ELIAKIM STODDARD.
