    3. OK Alice, it looks like Samuel was the first settler in Steuben and had ties with the Baron. Shortly after he arrived a number of families (Brooks & Ball that I'm interested in) migrated from Springfield Mass. and settled at Steuben Corners. Was Samuel from Springfield and sucker a bunch of his old neighbors into moving to Steuben or were they lured by someone else. Most of the original early New England settlers moved on as the Welsh arrived. I'm just curious how my ggg-grandfather ended up in Steuben with this bunch.
