The day I rode out to Blue Mountain Lake Museum in early October this year, I saw the following in a very old Guest Book of the Forge House. I don't know the location of Forge House. FORGE HOUSE, BROWN'S TRACT C. F. SPERRY, PROPRIETOR W. C. Bamber, Boonville, Aug. 11, 1872 Destination: Hon (sic) Remarks: B. B. Venison Deanna
Deanna, The Forge House was a hotel that stood on the hill overlooking Old Forge Pond in Old Forge, Herkimer Co., NY. The site now has a motel on it. As you found, the register is at the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mt. Lake and they have microfilmed it. The register contains many references to Oneida County people who came in from Boonville, Remsen, and other towns to work at the various camps on the lakes. The reference to "Hon", is perhaps Honnedaga Lake.
