I have not found Mr.Smith, Abigail and family together on a census that I can be certain of. My prime suspect family is on page 433 of the 1810 Oneida County census in what should be Western but no town name is given. Jared Olcott is nearby. I have never been able to find an original copy of the complete Oneida County census. That should have complete names but there doesn't seem to be one in existance. Norman is said in censuses to be born in NY. The State census for 1865 says that James was born in Oneida Co.. I found a record in the Surrogate's Court that caught my interest. It is an attestation of the death of Edward Smith of Rome dated 2 Nov 1813. In it Abigail Smith of Rome said that Edward Smith late of Rome is deceased and that she saw him die "and further saith not". Really tough family here and they drive me crazy. How are you related?
