    3. Oho! The Dorrance line is from Plainfield and Voluntown CT, and I have traced it back to Scotland. Margery Dorrance married Levi Thomas sometime just before 1800 when they are on the census for Paris NY as just the two of them. She was b. 1774, daughter of George/Alice (Trumbull) Dorrance. A brother James Dorrance, with a wife Lucy, also appears in the land deeds in the Utica area. Margery gave away dower rights to a piece of property in Utica that I haven't had a chance to track down, so I have a working theory that she may have gone out there with either the brother or maybe even the father, who was a widower by then, but I haven't found George Dorrance on any deeds. Other chldren of George include George, b. 1768, who was in the area, John, 1770, who was in Brutus NY, Trumbull, 1774 who lived in Pittsfield MA and Margaret, 1776, who marr. Ashbel Welch of Windham CT but who also d. in Utica. Anyone look familiar?
