Wendy, you might contact the Oneida County Historical Society on Gennessee st in Utica and see if they have any records on the Finch co. As it was probably a privately owned studio, almost anything could have happened to the company records. They may have used Glass plate photography back in 1908, so there may not be a negative record, as we know it. I think that grew from Eastman-Kodak's Brownies and other early cameras that were used by the general public. We have an old photo of my wife's ggm taken by another Utica studio , probably around 1880, and knew it was active for many years. There maybe some photography club in the area that might know, or other old photo collectors, antique shops and the like. The Utica library could have some information, also. There is one famous story of many of Civil War's Matthew Brady's glass plates ending up being used in a greenhouse , but were recognized and many restored to give priceless images. Many cities have studios that do great copying of old photos,if that is what you are after. We had several done here in Kalamazoo of my wife's ggm and sent them to other relative's . Research on the history and methods of photography would help you, also. Good luck . Dave Rafferty
