It is also a few miles >from Chemung County. The nearest big town is Waverly, N.Y. >Audrey C. Bowne; BOWNE Surname & Family Reseacher Yes, but I think the LITCHFIELD this woman is referring to, given that she was looking in Oneida County, is the Litchfield that "was" located in the Town of Litchfield in Herkimer County, just over the Oneida County border. Though the actual village is no longer recognized as a unit, I believe some colorful rememberances of the village such as the Litchfield Grange Hall still remain -- anyone been over Litchfield Hill lately to know for sure?
