    1. [NYONEIDA-L] GROSSMAN/BENJAMIN
    2. Linda Epstein
    3. Hi there. I'm hoping that some of you who are still in the Utica area may be able to help me with some of the branches in my family. The GROSSMAN family came to Utica from Lithuania. Lena, Shmeryl, Charles, Sam, Louis, and Julius. Lena married my great-grandfather, Max BENJAMIN and then later Julius BRODY, an orthodox rabbi. I know that Julius' son Eddie ran a furniture store in Utica, and Grossman Furniture, as well as Utica Luggage & Leather was owned by the Grossman family. I also know that a lot of the family lived on Whitesboro St. HOFFMAN, RIZIKA and BENAJMIN are also prominent family names. These Grossmans were in Utica in the early 1900s. Some also continue to live there. I am looking for these descendants: DESANTIS (descendants of Florence Grossman and Herman Desantis), VAN CUREN (descendants of Ethel Grossman and James Van Curen) and HURWITZ (descendants of Joseph Grossman and Anna Hurwitz). If any of these names sound familiar to you - I'd love to hear from you. I'm collecting stories, too. Thanks in advance! -- Linda D.
