Yes, there is/was a Marcy State and there was/is also a Utica State Hospital. USH is now called the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center. I think Marcy State became the Marcy Correctional Facility and handles the criminally insane, but I'm not sure. If you go to the American Memories Map page at: http://lcweb2.loc.gov/ammem/gmdhtml/gmdhome.html Search for "Utica" The building featured in the lower right-hand corner of the map is the NYS Lunatic Asylum, Later called the State Hospital. There are newer buildings there now, but the original building still stands, and they are trying to sell it. It's on the endangered landmarks list, I believe. It's very large and impressive, but needs a lot of work. If your family ever lived in Utica, you may enjoy the rest of the map. This map is quite accurate, and you may be able to zoom in to see individual buildings all over the city.
