This person's attitude was really a shame. What's the harm in letting someone access to a cemetery? As long as the person isn't trampling through and destroying the area (the owner of the property could escort the visitor) I just don't see any harm. But then, I don't have a cemetery on my property... We had a lovely experience when my husband and I were in New Hampshire a couple of years ago. There exists a family cemetery that pertains to my husband's family, and it's on private property, although we didn't know it. It was along a public road and we just didn't stop to think it might be private property. Anyway, at some point, the owner of the property noticed us and came out and introduced himself. We had a nice chat about family history (it turns out he's the direct decendant of the Dudleys and there's a trust of some kind for the upkeep of the cemetery), we exchanged addresses and phone numbers, and my husband and this "cousin" have kept in touch on and off ever since. They exchanged family data, brought each other up-to-date on their own branches of the family, etc. It was a really mutually beneficial visit... Too bad not all people are open-minded enough to see this... Mary
