Family legend says that Eliza Lindsay was born in Armagh, Ireland and moved to Oneida Co., NY with her family where her father ran a barge line on the Erie Canal in the 1830s. She married John Harrison, also born in Ireland. She died in 1857, weeks after the birth of her youngest child. There is a picture in the family of a Robert Lindsay who may have been her father and the 1850 census shows a Mary "Linzy" living with John and Eliza who may have been Eliza's mother.
