Regarding the "Hamiltons" My GG Grandfather Stephen M. Hamilton is supposedly a distant cousin to Alexander Hamilton. I may have found the connection. Included in his pension records is an affidavit signed by his sister Kate A. Thompson. I have located a Kate Amy Hamilton born in Rheinbeck, NY (same town as my GGGrandfather) who married Benjamin L. Thompson. If these two Kate's are one and the same than I have found the connection Our GGG Grandfathers were brothers. Pretty distant, Uh! Still fun to figure it all out. Let me know if I can be of any more help.
