I hope that some kind soul will be able to help me. I live in Chicago and am searching for family that came here from Oneida County in late 1850 early 1851. I have found the family (Button) living in Floyd in 1830, the same family living in Marcey in 1840. By the 1850 census the children are listed in different towns living with different families. I know that four of the children came to the midwest together. What I am interested in learning is this: what is a good source to find out what happened to the parents? Was there some illness similar to flu or cholera that hit Oneida Co. during the 1840s? Would anyone have a good idea where I should look next to try and find these missing parents? Thank you. Colleen
