Born in Ireland, Mrs. Mangan came to Clayville when she was a young woman, and later moved to Utica. Her husband died 34 years ago. Besides Mrs. Burns, Mrs. Mangan leaves two other daughters, Mrs. Frank Shields and Mrs. Thomas Dailey, Utica; a son, William, Newport; 10 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was active in church circles. *** posted by g-granddaughter *** Notes: Born August 28, 1864 Sheepstown, Delvin, Westmeath Ireland - Parents: Michael and Catherine Guthrie Gaffney Husband: Joseph Mangan b.Clayville 1859-1903 parents: Francis and Julia Mangan of Ireland. Occupation: Ran a boardinghouse in Saquoit 1900-1920's also worked as a practical nurse after the death of Joseph. Children: Margaret Carolyn Mangan Burns (1898-1956), Julia Mangan Shields(1884-1939), Mary Mangan Dailey (1891-1974), William Mangan (1888-1969) - wife: Laura Plante (1890-1964). Another daughter Catherine Marie Mangan (1886-1889) drowned as a small child Joseph Mangan, Catherine Gaffney Mangan, William and Laura Plante Mangan are all buried at St. Mary's in Clayville.
