Burns Dies After Long Illness The death of John B. Burns occurred at his home on Chestnut street Sunday afternoon following a lingering illness. Mr. Burns had been in ill health for four years and had been confined to his home for several weeks. The deceased was born in Whitehaven, England, August 26, 1866, a son of the late Bernard and Elizabeth Fitzpatrick Burns and came to America when a young man. He was married in this village January 10, 1892 to Mary Moylan and was a member of St. Mary's Church and of the Holy Name Society. For many years he was also a member of the Clinton branch of the A.O.H. Besides his widow he leaves nine children; John E., James D., Thomas P., and Francis P., all of Clinton; Mrs. Thomas Carr, Whitesboro, Mrs Louise Townsend, Clinton, Mrs. Eugene Clifford, Syracuse; and Misses Marjorie and Elizabeth Burns of Clinton. He also leaves two sistrs, Mrs. Sara Reid, Oriskany and Mrs. Katherine Martin, Clinton, and 15 Grandchildren. The funeral was held at his late home on Wednesday morning at 9:30 and at St. Mary's Church as 10 o'clock, where Rev. Thomas McNeil, assistant pastor, celebrated a requiem high mass.
