Kathy, Try contacting the Record Room in the ground floor of the Oneida County Courthouse. They have an index of Coroner's Reports. If they go back to 1860 that should give you the date of death, confirmation of the spelling of the name, and perhaps the official cause of death. If it's in the index and you want access to the inquest file, I believe you need to write the Oneida Co. Coroner. I've never had to go that route, but I believe they still consider these records sealed despite their age, so there is no guarantee of success.
