In your research has anyone come across the name of my ancestor WILLIAM SALTAR in the time frame of 1800-1850? I know he came from New Jersey and lived in the Oneida County area but can't find what town nor what he did for a living. I've contacted many in the area but no one knows anything about him. I know he lived his last years with his daughter Sarah Saltar Mappa in the Mappa House in Oldenbarnveld. I want to know about his earlier years. His brother-in-law was Benjamin Walker who was a banker in Utica. The genealogist in New Jersey - Stillwell - says he went to Oneida County to work in a bank in Utica, but I can find no record of that. Does anyone know if the very early banks have records of their employees? Thanks in advance. Alice
