HI CAROL. THESE MAY BE AVAILABLE ON INTER-LIBRARY LOAN THROUGH YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY. OTHER THAN THAT YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE STATE ARCHIVES AND VIEW THEM. I DON'T KNOW IF ANY OF THE COUNTIES HAVE THE RECORDS IN THEIR OFFICES. I HAVE NOT HEARD OF THAT, BUT THE LOCAL HISTORIANS MAY BE ABLE TO ANSWER THAT. I HAVE USED MANY AND THEY ARE FUN. Deanna, Hi, I was looking through some old email addresses and realized I have saved this one but had not sent a request. If you are still taking requests, I am looking for Elias Mott, (born @ 1783, NY or NJ), Sylvanius Shear (b. @ 1757, served in REv. War) and Abraham David or David Abraham Brower, (born @ 1785). Did you find the Schuyler Ransom in Illinois 1880 census? in Nelson, Lee County, IL And in 1860 he is in Rockvale, Ogle County, IL (listed as Schyler, age 37) I can't find him in 1870. Perhaps the last name is spelled wrong in the census. Bradley Ransom age 38 (wife Miranda) found in 1870 census in Salem PO, Richardson County, Nebraska; next to Dunn Ransom age 52. Some time ago I (more that 20 years) I purchased a dozen old diaries dating from 1856 through 1870's. They were written by LYDIA HEATH WOOLSEY and the earlier ones were written by AMANDA HEATH EBBOT. I believe Amanda came from the CT area, however there were mention of train times for Utica, and Booneville and it makes me think they may have had relatives in this area. If there are any listers out there researching those names I would be interested in learning about these peoples. The Catholic church merges are happening all over the country. Find out what the dioceses are doing with the records, and whether you and other descendants will have ready access. Speak up now, or the records may be locked away in a dusty basement. Church leaders have a lot on their minds right now, and if parishioners, descendants and researchers don't speak out, the records could disappear from view--or disappear altogether. Some of us interested in the records of an Illinois parish contacted the church official in charge of the records in a distant city. We corresponded with her by email, expressed our reasons for wanting access to the records, and (we think!) stimulated her interest in preserving our ancestors' records. She did promise to personally supervise their cataloging and storage.
