Hi Steve, I did an index for these churches many years ago (1991-is that many years ago :~) so it's an all-name index. There is nothing for an Emma or a Viola Powers, only a William Curtis her married to Mary Jane McKinne 1835 Sorry. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steven Knight" <sknight3@twcny.rr.com> To: <nyoneida@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, December 07, 2007 11:57 AM Subject: Re: [NYONEIDA] Churches > Deanna: > > Would you check Calvary Church for a marriage of Emma Viola Powers > (1845-1926) to an "unknown" Curtis between 1860 and 1865. Deanna: Would you check Calvary Church for a marriage of Emma Viola Powers (1845-1926) to an "unknown" Curtis between 1860 and 1865. Also the baptism of their son Charles Curtis, born 1864. Emma's obit says she was a member of Calvary Church but the Episcopal Diocese of Central New York claims no record of her. He surely fought off Indians in 1851, so what am I missing? My great grandfather went overland from Michigan, returning via Panama a few years later. I have a question about early churches. I found an obit on my 3rd great grandmother Lucretia Shear Mott who died April 12, 1852 at the age of 69. The obit. stated that she had found religion 45 yrs ago and was among the first pioneers of Methodism in this county. Lucretia and husband Elias Mott lived in Lee, Oneida from 1820 until their deaths. Does anyone know where they might have attended church at that time. I believe that they lived near the Belcher Cemetery. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks. Debbie
I have a copy of the Calvary Episcopal Church and Old Trinity Episcopal, Utica, NY, at home. I will check a surname for you. Calvary Baptisms 1859-1865 Burials 1859-1864, 1865-1875 Marriages 1859-1875 (doesn't cover all months of this time period) Old Trinity Ministers 1798-1913 Baptisms 1806-1857 Marriages 1807-1839 Deanna
Patrick McGough, Jr. went west in 1851 to be part of the California Gold Rush. ( He was home soon!) What was the route these Oneida Co. men would take to get to California? Panama? Deanna
