Good evening, What are the Catholic churches that were in or around Rome 1850 to 1900? I am looking for William Lynch who was in that area according to census of the 1860-1870. His children were still with him, at least Rose was in the last census. Rose was married in Pleasant Hill, MO 1880, and I find both of her brothers in Missouri at that time, but not her father. Rose and the brothers were married in the Catholic church, with Rose's children baptism also on record in Pleasant Hill......So I am looking for William in Rome, with the thought that Rose went to live with the brothers when he possibly died in Rome. William Lynch I have found is as the same as looking for John Smith......very popular names. thank you for any help you can advise. Jacqueline from Oregon
OK Alice, it looks like Samuel was the first settler in Steuben and had ties with the Baron. Shortly after he arrived a number of families (Brooks & Ball that I'm interested in) migrated from Springfield Mass. and settled at Steuben Corners. Was Samuel from Springfield and sucker a bunch of his old neighbors into moving to Steuben or were they lured by someone else. Most of the original early New England settlers moved on as the Welsh arrived. I'm just curious how my ggg-grandfather ended up in Steuben with this bunch. You might try contacting the NY UUA Archivist Karen Dau at selway@localnet.com She was very helpful to me . I would appreciate very much if you would look up the surnames Lindsay and Harrison. Thank you. I am aware of the marriage record at Old Trinity for John Harrison and Elizabeth Lindsay in 1841. Any others would be helpful. _________________________________________________________________ You keep typing, we keep giving. Hi Alice You are referring to the Universalist/Unitarian Church still located in Bareveld NY. Here is their URL http://www.uubarneveld.org/ Perhaps if you write to the Church they might be able to tell you if they have Archives back to the period you are referring to. Good Luck Pat R

Deanna Most who went overland went to St.Joseph, MO or a similar point and then joined a wagon train. Some started with a wagon, others on horseback, many took boats down the Ohio R amd then up the Missouri a ways. They would have to afford supplies or work for them. But they did not need to travel alone. There were thousands of others from the east coast who made the trek, probably 99+% in some kind of group. The vast majority had no open hostilities with Indians. Please check for the names Fenlon and Closson. The may have married in the area. John Fenlon supposedly was born in Clinton. Thank you!! Linda Fenlon
Does anyone have information about the Unitarian Church in Oldenbarnveld/Trenton/Barneveld? The church was on the Mappa property and the minister in the early 1800's lived with the family. In the 1980's when I was in the area, the little church building was still there. My Sizer/Saltar/Walker lines married with the Mappas and I was wondering if any information about them is in the church's records - if any exists. Thanks.
