    2. Dan Touse
    3. Greetings! The maps mentioned in yesterday's post showing location of residents are typically available at Co Clerks office. I am told these maps do exist in Oneida Co Office. They may be available at Rome & Utica libraries. I can not get there. I also have a map of Verona Township [big file] from @ 1852 showing residents, and portion of Vernon Ctr @ 1896. So there must be a few series hiding someplace. If anyone can round up copies of these, I would be glad to scan them & email to list members, etc. I am esp interested in maps showing residents for the following towns: Kirkland; Marshall; Vernon; Verona; and Western [priority.] Dan

    2. Many counties have Atlases printed for them with the towns and villages usually printed seperately. Most that I have seen date from the late 1860's to the turn of the century. Schoharie county, with which I am most familiar, has one that dates from 1867. I know that Madison county also has an atlas, because I've seen photocopies of certain areas, i.e. Lenox and Canastota. I believe the date is from the 1870's. If someone on our list doesn't have it, the Madison County Historical Soc. would probably have it. 3. I'm looking for information about any descendants of SQUIRE JUDSON WHITAKER (1855-1923)and EMMA BEERS (1854-1893). They had one son DEWITT WHITAKER (1877-1956). He married ETHEL RANDALL in 1899, and they had one son RANDALL JUDSON WHITAKER (1907-1968). DEWITT was an Erie railroad agent in Nutley, NJ in 1923. RANDALL W. married MARGARET HOFFMAN in 1934. They had two daughters. My mother, SUSAN HILDEGARDE WHITAKER (1904-1994) was the half sister of DEWITT WHITAKER. Her father, SQUIRE JUDSON WHITAKER, and her mother, MATHILDE SNELL married in 1895 in Hancock, NY. Hopefully, Joyce Tanno Hansen -- MZ

    1. [NYONEIDA-L] Allen LOCKWOOD
    2. I have sent this message to Delaware Co and the LOCKWOOD lists, but thought maybe I should also include the Oneida Co list since the brother of Allen, Cornelius, lived in Forestport , Oneida Co, NY from 1859-1890: Has anyone run across an Allen LOCKWOOD who was born 1808 and died in 1865. Supposedly, this is the name of the missing son of the John LOCKWOOD family that lived in Delhi, Delaware Co., NY. I found a reference to his name and dates on a scrap piece of paper when looking through some old photos. No one else in the family has ever heard of this name. Two siblings Betsey(Elizabeth) Lockwood PIERCE and brother, Cornelius, were born in Columbia Co. prior to the family's move to Delaware Co before 1810. The other children : Sanders, John Jr. and Catherine Lockwood FISH were born in Delaware Co. So Allen could have been born in Columbia or Delaware Co.,NY According to the census records, he moved out of the family prior to 1830. Where he lived after that or died is a mystery! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Nancy Neal of Sterling, VA

The vital records and meeting minutes were maintained by the New York Yearly Meeting and are now housed at the Friends Historical Library, Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, PA. The NY Gen & Biog. Society has Western MM on film. You may also be able to borrow them from the Family Hist. Library in Salt Lake. I don't recall Bowne in my browsing, but I will look over my notes again just in case.
