Would anybody know of any University or State College in the State of New York or elsewhere that might house information of historical significance that inturn might aid or benefit those of us searching for early settlers in the Oneida Co. area? It has been my experience that there are one or more such repositories for just about every geographical area in the U.S. that I have had occasion to research. Thank you, Erwin Kirby of Grants Pass, Oregon.

    3. Hopefully this will be addressed further by someone more knowledgeable....... The Iriquois was not a tribe, but confederation of central NY tribes, including the Cayugas, Oneidas, Onondagas, Senecas, Tuscororas, & Mohawks. I believe there may have been one or two more. The Oneida were the only tribe not to take up arms against the colonists in the Rev War. There was also the Algonquin tribe in the lower Hudson/Manhattan region. The Delaware & Huron tribes also ventured into NY in the colonial era....... Dan
