To: NYONEIDA-L@rootsweb.com Hi all, I have a William MURPHY born 19 July 1848 in Florence, NY. His father was born about 1800 in County Limerick in Ireland and died Mar 6 1900 I believe in Florence. I believe his name was also William. His mother was Nora Bohen born about 1811 in County Cork in Ireland and died 1877 I believe in Florence. This data was taken from a note I have that William Murphy wrote. William Joined the US Army in 1866 and was discharged in Wyoming in 1869. He spent the rest of his life in the west. I have searched the census for 1850 and 1860 without finding a positive match. I have his death certificate listing his birth date as 1850 with the data supplied by his wife. Does anyone on this list have any connection to this William Murphy? Thank You, Don Houck
Seeking STERLING/STARLIN, James, Daniel and Morse; and CONE, Benjamin and wife Rachel (STERLING) CONE all from Lyme and East Haddam, CT. The Cones were supposedly of Chenango Co. Morse STERLING said on Civil War papers he was born in Westmoreland, Oneida Co., NY 1814 (but may have been 1804). None of these STERLING people appear in Oneida Co. records. Daniel and Jedidah (GATES) STERLING both supposedly died in Westmoreland about 1808. James STERLING may have been in Oneida, Herkimer, Otsego, or Montgomery 1800-1810, by 1818 to Athens Co., OH, and is my direct ancestor. Apparetly not related to other Oneida Co. STERLING people.
