Would like to verify a marriage between my ancestor, Mary Louise Keech and a Henry Pexton, sometime between 1849 and 1856. A Henry Pexton is listed as living in Oneida County in the index for the 1860 Federal Census for New York. (Have been waiting for the census microfilm at my local Family History Center for a month.) They had a son, Henry G. Pexton, born 1856. By 1865, Mary Louise was a widow. If anyone has access to marriage records, I would greatly appreciate some help, since I live far off in Washington State. Thank you, Sandy Godsey

Hi folks, Can anyone tell me if Chadwicks is in the township of New Hartford? Or if not just what township would it fall under. I have found some of my Swift family on the 1920 census under New Hartford, when I believe they lived in Chadwicks at that time. Should know this as I was born around there but what can I say, Forty six years away can dull the memory. Claire Jury Cranford North Carolina, amma@gowebway.com

Marcy State Hospital became what is known today as Central New York Psychiatric Center. It is a forensic mental hospital housing mentally ill criminals from both the state and local levels.
Sorry Folks, this was supposed to also go to the whole list FYI, and not just CM Strong....I forgot to reply to all. I replied to Marsha's question about Broome and Cortland co.... Are you talking about Cortland, or Cortland Co? If you are talking Cortland Co ......... There is a mailing list for Cortland County, hosted by majordomo. To subscribe, send an e-mail to majordomo@listserv.northwest.com . The message should be as follows: "subscribe cortland-ny", without the quotes, please. and one for Broome Co also through majordomo: There is a mailing list for Broome County, hosted by majordomo. To subscribe, send an e-mail to : majordomo@listserv.northwest.com. The message should be as follows: "subscribe broome-ny" (without the quotes, please). - ----------------------------------------- It obviously is not hosted by Rootsweb, rather Genweb. I thought they were the same. But apparently not. I am a little confused about it. I haven't seen a lot of activity lately on this Cortland list though, and I do not know how successful they are. It's mostly FYI. Hope this helps. Dear members, Does anyone know which Rootsweb list would handle Cortland, NY and which would include Binghamton, NY? I've been told there were UNSELs in that area. My gggf lived in Utica during the time period 1855-60 and except for my immediate family, we knew of no other related UNSELs in the area. Am trying to find the sibs and roots on my gggf Baltus UNSEL. Thank you. Kathy Unsel Gillis wbgillis@snet.net
