I am looking for information on the following individuals listed on the 1800 census as head of household in their respective towns: Rome: Jasper French; Westmoreland: Simeon Rogers, and Whitestown: George Doolittle. I am looking for the burial place of several generations of BUTLERs that resided in Camden, Oneida County NY from before 1810 through at least the 20th century. The first generation was Israel BUTLER, born 1773 in Goshen, CT died in Camden before 1840. One of his sons was Micajah BUTLER, born 4 July 1800 probably in NY. Micajah had several children and he died 16 Sep 1872 in Camden. One of his sons was Israel Butler, born 27 Nov 1825. A few pages (118 - 121) are about the life of Isreal and this family in the History of Oneida County, copyrighted 1912. A picture of Israel is even included. He had at least two sons, that I know of at this point in time. Isreal died 19 Jun 1908. I would love to know were all these folks are buried. They lived and died in Camden. It is said that they were life long members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Does anyone have any additional information on this family and were they are buried? Does anyone know of an old Methodist Church in the area? I would appreciate any help or direction you folks may be able to fgive me. Thanks. Dave in PA.

HI Jo, my wife, momin law and myself were just in Utica doing research last week on her Pfeifer roots and got a lot of great information. Some suggestions: Utica public library: 303 Genesee st, Utica 13501 Oneidea county Historical society: 1608 Genesee st, Utica Hrs 10-4:30 Tues thru Fri. $5 admission fee to use library,staffed with volunteers. They will make copies for 25 cents a copy. Deed and Mortgage records datin back to 1791. limited amount of vital statistics for 1847-50. There is a fee for searching deeds and mortages but searching their vital statistics is free. The Naturalization office is also in the bldg. 315-7985778. Oneida county court house: Elizabeth st, 315-7985866. 9-5 , m-f. Has surrogate records back to 1791. Utica bureau of vital statistics: 406 Elizabeth st. 315-7380218. Birth and Death records from 1874. You should try the NYGENWEB to get to Oneida county"S website. Lots of good information there. You might have trouble getting vital statistics from the era you are looking for. On the website, there are a list of all the newspapers that were published over the years and what records may be available. Hope this helps. Hello all! I have just joined this list as I will be traveling through New York and plan to spend a couple of days in Utica doing some research. What I need to look for is birth verifications and hopefully some marriage records. Census records would be helpful IF I can locate all the individuals I need. The birth records would be for the period from 1820 to 1835. I am HOPING that they were all born in Utica but I can not be positive. Are these records available for searching? I only have a year for my gggrandmother and I only THINK she was born in Oneida Cty. The other folks I have dates of birth for, and I am hoping to find marriage records but I do not have a year for at least one of them. A needle in a haystack search?? I suppose, but I must start somewhere. So - given the above, can anyone suggest the best location (library or whatever) to begin this search. If it is not in Utica then that is fine. Hi, Does anyone know if the Charles Tubbs family was listed in the 1830 census in Oneida Co.? The size of the family would be as follows: Under 5 yrs. 1 male 1 female 20-30 yrs. 1 male 1 female (these would be Charles, his wife, Emily, and their children, Cemantha (age 4) and Charles Henry (age less that 8 months)). I don't know if they were still in the county at that time, Charles Henry was born in Verona, Oneida Co. on 19 Nov., 1829 (according to his marriage, military and death records).
