    1. Re: [NYONEIDA-L] Census for Delta, NY
    2. Wall Family
    3. This info comes from the book Moccasin Tracks to Ski Trails, The Story of the Town of Western. Delta 1790-1912 -- geographically the village spread into two town in Oneida County. The southeast corner of Lee and the southwest corner of Western. The north line of the town of Rome adjoining the south line of the village of Delta. The largest portion of the village was in the town of Lee. So you might want to check Lee, Western and perhaps Rome.\ Julie omeara wrote: > > I have searched the LDS Family History Library Catalog for 1850-1900 > censuses for Delta to no avail. 1. [NYONEIDA-L] searching for Mary HARDIN
    2. I am looking for information on Mary Hardin. I believe she was born before 1784 and she died after 1840. I think she was from Oneida county, possibly Rome. She married Richard Auchard around 1809. They had 6 children, 3 sons and 3 daughters. The only child's name I know is Alexander Auchard who was probably their last child, but who was also a twin. Richard and Mary lived near Rome in 1820. According to family history, the family moved to Kentucky, near Frankfort, Franklin county in the late 1830's or early 1840's. After that, I don't know what happened to Richard and Mary. Any information about this would be appreciated. e-mail me at: steve7492@aol.com

    1. [NYONEIDA-L] Archive in Oneida County?
    2. Joanne Garland
    3. Does anyone know an appropriate Oneida County archive where one might deposit genealogical materials? I am thinking of data that one might wish to make available to other researchers. Such data might include copies of family Bible pages, research results, family group sheets, and so on. The family files in Fonda at the Old Court House have been such a wonderful resource. Similarly, the Local History Room at the Berkshire Athenaeum (public library) in Pittsfield, Mass., maintains an excellent archive for Berkshire and upstate New York research. The central NY archive in Cooperstown is superb as well. Does the Utica area have an archive somewhere that is carefully maintained and available to the public? Joanne Garland (Utica native in Massachusetts)

    3. Hello Researchers, I know that Oneida County was created in 1798 from Herkimer County. I am looking for records on a family of Allen's (not at all easy to research) who lived for a time in Amboy, which was then in Oneida County. Oswego wasn't created until 1820 when most of this was over. Japhet Chapin Allen (b. 25 Nov 1810 in Amboy, Oneida, New York) was born to ?Artemas/Daniel/Thoms Allen and Tabitha Chapin (b. 17 Aug 1770 in Springfield, Hampden, Massachusetts to William & Martha Chapin). We are aware of his mother's line, but not his. The older Mr. Allen, we believe, may have fought and died in the War of 1812. >From an old letter we learn that Mr. Allen died when Japhet Chapin Allen was only 4 years old. The young Mr Japhet Chapin Allen was bound out at a young age to an innkeeper. I have looked in records for Oneida War of 1812 service records and in various places. I always seem to turn up nothing. I can find nothing for Amboy in Oneida County records. Does anyone have any information on where I could look? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
