If you haven't already, do a search at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyoneida/ for the name Servatius; it will give you some good leads. It mentions a John and Catherine Servatius and family who came to the US from Loblentz, Naevit, Germany in 1838. -----Original Message----- From: Susan [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, September 15, 2003 12:15 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [NYONEIDA-L] thank you Thank youto all who helped me in my quest to locate Whitestown. 112 Miller Street in the 1900 census was inhabited by a Mr. Harris Brown and children. It is on ED86 page 9B. But I noticed (with help from Margy's post) that Mr. Risinger was living at 146 Howard St. in the 1910 census, so I checked there, and I think that's him there. It's ED87 page 12B (Ancestry image #24 & 25). Howard Street is only one street over from Miller St. It shows: Thomas Risinger, Head, born Jun 1842, age 57, Married 27 yrs, b. Susan, Are you confused still? Many people who aren't from New York might be. In the state of New York a TOWN is what many other states call a TOWNSHIP (smaller part of a county). If you're from Louisiana, you have another whole way of dividing your state. To those of us from the Midwest, a TOWN is a small city or village. I have been trying to locate the location of Whitestown but can't find it on a map and am told it is in Oneida Co. NY. Can anyone assist me?
I like to volunteer to help with the index for the Tree Talks. But when I email to assist the email comes back, saying that it can not be delivered. Is there an other email? Thank you, BetteJo Hall- Caldwell NY One Step at a time and you'll reach your Goals.
G.M.: A county packet is a compilation of 41 years of abstracting pre-1860 secondary and perhaps primary source data from our Genealogical Periodical, "Tree Talks". You get all abstracted data to the current issue for $15 to $25 depending on the size of the packet. the 49 County packets can be found on our site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nycnygs Click on publications. So, if you choose to help us index the Oneida County Packet for example, you will be helping yourself and others make more informed decisions, just to name one advantage to researchers. Check out the counties we have indexed at the bottom of our homepage to see what an advantage this is. And thanks for asking, Jim Hartigan ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, September 05, 2003 10:33 AM Subject: [NYONEIDA-L] NYSGS INDEXING > I once was a member and don't recall what a "packet" is. You do not have to be a subscriber. By indexing a county packet, you are making the packet searchable at no cost on our website so that one can make a more informed decision as to whether they should purchase the packet. That is what this list is about. When we can help someone, we do, because we know we will have to ask for help at some point. Then there is the golden rule. So, I don't know if I answered your ques. Jim Hartigan You know when you help someone, it helps you. In this case, you might learn something that will help you in your research. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, September 04, 2003 7:44 PM Subject: [NYONEIDA-L] CNYGS INDEXING > Would such indexing be of assistance if one is not a subscriber to > Genealogical Periodical? > G. This is a hoax. jdbgmgr.exe is a legitimate file in Windows machines. Always check with Norton or McAfee websites regarding viruses before reacting to virus warnings (the easiest way is to type in "virus hoaxes" in www.google.com and take your pick from numerous listings. >===== Original Message From [email protected] ===== >Content-type: text/plain > >NYONEIDA-D Digest Volume 03 : Issue 155 > >Today's Topics: > #1 Re: [NYONEIDA-L] virus ["Edie Fleig" <[email protected]] > >Administrivia: >To unsubscribe from NYONEIDA-D, send a message to > > [email protected] > >that contains in the body of the message the command > > unsubscribe > >and no other text. Jdbgmgr.exe file hoax Reported on: April 12, 2002 Last Updated on: July 19, 2003 02:47:09 AM Symantec Security Response encourages you to ignore any messages regarding this hoax. It is harmless and is intended only to cause unwarranted concern. Type: Hoax This hoax, like the SULFNBK.EXE Warning hoax, tries to encourage you to delete a legitimate Windows file from your computer. Jdbgmgr.exe is the file to which the hoax refers, and it is the Microsoft Debugger Registrar for Java. The Jdbgmgr.exe file may be installed when you install Windows. Notes: Some versions of this hoax take advantage of an actual threat, the [email protected] worm. The Jdbgmgr.exe file mentioned in the hoax has a bear icon. The actual [email protected] worm file is a .exe file and does not have a bear icon. Other versions of this hoax have slightly different ways in which they refer to the Jdbgmgr.exe file, usually in the subject of the email message. For example: Subject: "jdbg" Virus: how to detect and remove. NOTE: Recent The Windows Jdbgmgr.exe file has a teddy bear icon in the hoax, as illustrated below:
