    1. [NYONEIDA-L] forms for kathy Johnson
    2. Kathy, I used the internet white pages to get the addresses and phone numbers for the cemeteries. The ones I contacted Forest Hill and Calvary seemed to have the surnames indexed and did a lookup on while I was on the phone, didn't take long at all. They had the cause of death also which is important for our medical histories. They were so kind and helpful. The form: Name of deceased: Date of birth & death: Place of birth: Place of death: Last known residence: Next of kin: Grave # Notes: I filled out what information they had given me and they said they would fill out everything else. I included a few extra forms in case they had more family members buried there also. I use Dana{ my great grandmother's name} for my e-mail Carol "Valrico, fl"

May I ask what kind of form you sent and how you found the addresses and phone numbers of the cemeteries? Thanks. Any information would be appreciated. R. H. I typed up a form and sent it to the cemeteries . When I called they said they would be glad to give me all the information on my family burials, that way when I get there I don't have to spend time searching. I have compiled a folder of information I need with phone listings and addresses since my time will be limited also. The Oneida county historical association has a website and have been great about looking for information on my family research. 1. [NYONEIDA-L] Visit to Utica
    2. Randy James
    3. I guess I'll throw in my 2 cents about visiting Utica. I went there about 2 years ago. I found the Oneida Historical Society very helpful and their library provided me with all kinds of information. I spent the better part of a day there. I heard the county library has alot of geneological materials but unfortunately I never got around to visiting there. The Oneida County Building has land records (in the basement). There is an easy, searchable index to use (by date and by name) and the books were easy to pull and find what I wanted. I was in and out of there with copies of deeds and whatnot from 1840 - 80 in about 45 minutes ($1 a page to copy oversized pages). I also found the Rome Historical Society very helpful. What I enjoyed the most was using old maps from the historical societies to locate where my ancestors lived/worked and walking the same streets or paths that they must have walked.

Any suggestions? Kathy Johnson I don't have any suggestions, esp. since I haven't been there yet myself but hope to. However, I'm curious to know which are your four families. My Matthews family was among the early settlers of Camden (and were related to the Olcotts and Budds, and others through marriages). So I too will be interested in any suggestions you get. I know that a relative of Fred contacted me, seeing a posting about him. He had some plates that were "rescued" from the city dump. I was SO happy to see those photos, but don't know what happened to his records. I wonder if the photographer who took over his studio kept them, and I wonder if anyone on the list can tell us anything about that next photographer. According to Fred's obituary, it was G.H. Pillard. Cheryl

    3. This is TERRIFIC! I don't know anything about Edward Recknall, but I can tell you about Frederick Archibald Moore, the photographer. He opened his studio about 1895 and sold it to G.H. Pillard about 1910, dying in 1912. I have more info about his family if anyone's interested. He was married to my relative. 2. Diane, In Sept. I had wrote to the list in regards to my great grandfather's naturalization record {Alexander Neider} and not being able to locate it. You responded by saying perhaps it was his parents naturalization record I should look for and maybe that is why noone could locate it. Well, you were RIGHT! They had the records for my gg grandfather and other older family members. I just received them today, what a thrill. Thank you for advising me to look for my gg grandfather's record since my great grandfather was only 2 when he arrived in this country. Carol
