I've "rescued" an old photograph album which includes a photograph of Laura A. WILBER taken at the Williams & Keller Studio in Utica, New York. The photograph is addressed "To Florence" and appears to have been taken in the 1880's or 1890's. Laura appears to be about 7 years old at the time the photograph was taken. The album is full of photographs from New Hampshire, Vermont, Nebraska, New York, and Rhode Island and includes identified photographs with surnames, GOVE, GRANT, EATON, and BIRTWHISTLE in addition to this WILBER photograph. I'm hoping to locate someone from this WILBER Family and to see the photograph album returned to family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Looked up all the men in Redfield, Oswego, no Samuel's at all. Only Elisha living in Redfield 1860 is Elisha Etson age 9. Only Farmer's in Redfield are Luke 63, and Sidney 27. Philip or Elisha are not with them. No Philip either. Barbara, The death certificate can be ordered at: http://www.health.state.ny.us/nysdoh/consumer/vr.htm The state will search up to 3 years for $22.00. Once you know the exact date of death in 1916, a search of local newspapers for an obituary will be practical. The death certificate should also give you the name of the cemetery where she is buried--you can then look for gravestone inscriptions and interment records. I am not sure if there is a connection with your Murphy family but it is possible, since immigrants tended to settle where they already had relatives. My great-grandmother, Bridget Murphy, b. about 1874 in Ireland (prob. Enniscorthy, County Wexford), emigrated to America around 1887, m. John J. Callaghan (Callahan) of County Donegal prob. around 1897. I have not found their marriage record. They later belonged to St. Patrick's Church and lived at 7 Huntington Street in Utica. Their three children were born in 1898, 1901, and 1903. Bridget died December 21, 1909 in Utica. Her death certificate lists her parents in Ireland as James MURPHY and Mary MULLIGAN. Largely from her obituary, Bridget Murphy's siblings, all born in Ireland, appear to have been: Michael Murphy, living in Utica in 1909. John Andrew Murphy, b. about 1888, naturalized in 1940, d. in Utica Aug. 30 1959, unmarried, leaving surviving nephew Michael Murphy of Syracuse and niece Mrs. Helen Dyer of New Bedford, MA. Patrick Murphy, living in North Carolina in 1909. James Murphy, living in Ireland in 1909. Philip, living in Ireland in 1909. Anna or Annie, b. about 1874, m. _____ ROWLAND, living in Brooklyn, NY, in 1909. She is probably the Annie McENEANY, age 75, who according to a newspaper report of March 23, 1949, died aboard the liner Marine Marlin while returning from Ireland. She had lived at 176 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, and her brothers John and Michael Murphy of Utica claimed her body. Margaret Murphy of Utica, m. Moyses Whalen Oct. 9, 1901 at St. Patrick's Church, Utica. Mary Murphy, living in Ireland in 1909. Kate Murphy (Mrs. Morris Murphy). I hope this is helpful in some way. Penny, Although the 1850 shows Philip as born in NH, The 1900 census shows Elisha with Mildred and two daughters, shows Elisha's father as being born in Massachusetts, and mother in NY, The 1910 shows Elisha's father born MA and mother Eng/Canada.
