    3. Dear Folks, I finally got back home at 9:00 this evening and I'm totally wiped out. This morning the doctor released me, I called Deb to come and get me to drive me home and when I was all packed up and ready to go, Deb stood up and almost blacked out! The nurse was in my room at the time and he was so concerned about Deb that he wheeled her down to the Emergency Room to find out what was wrong with her. As a result, the hospital held me over for another day inasmuch as I had no ride home. I was so concerned about Deb that I didn't know what to do. There she was in the ER and I didn't know how she was getting along or if she had to wait hours before a doctor finally got around to seeing her. I was dressed in my civilian clothes and when I realized that I'd be in the hospital another day, I changed back into my official VA men's pajamas and settled down with my murder mystery. Thank goodness my room had air conditioning. After I was served my dinner at 4:45, I took a nap and the next thing I knew, there was Deb walking into my room good as new. Apparently the doctor had determined that she was dehydrated due to the heat and humidity and put her on an IV to get her back on her feet. We were both thrilled that we'd be driving back home this evening but there was one possible glitch that had to be overcome. I had been told that when the doctor found out that I had no ride home he cancelled my release papers. But not to worry, I called the head nurse Kevin and asked him if I could go home this evening. No problem! WHOOPEE!! The doctor was very satisfied with my condition and I won't need to continue to be on oxygen at home. One of the biggest reason I'm so wiped out is that ever since last Tuesday when I was admitted, I couldn't walk very far in my room because I was connected to my IV and my oxygen. In fact, for the past week I was confined to my small room. Therefore, my legs are weaker than usual. I have a few tales to tell of my stay in the hospital but I better wait until tomorrow. But most of all, before I close this evening I want to let all of you know how much I appreciate the good wishes so many of you have sent me. They mean so much to me. vee
