What you should have done was say that you lost all the information. Then they would have resent you it all over again. What someone may have deemed identifying information 15 years ago may not consider it identifying today. Even if it was the same person. If they just blacked out the identifying information sometimes you can make out certain letters or words that are not covered up good or sometimes you can even remove some of the ink that they used to black out the information.
