I have been searching for genealogy and family tree information concerning my great grandmother Mary Louise Simpson b 1868 somewhere in NY She married John Avery Hoyt or the Tioga Co NY area & they had 2 children. They lived in Clare Michigan when Rosa Hoyt was born in 1888, not sure about if the other daughter was born in MI or NY. The other daughter, Edith Eliza Hoyt was born in 1891. They then returned to New York state sometime after Rosa's birth as I found them on the 1900 census in Candor. Of course, no 1890 census. They could've gone to another part of NY before settling in Tioga Co, New York. They lived the majority of the time in the Candor, Tioga County, NY area, though. Rosa May Hoyt married into the Wright family in Candor. Edith married Raymond McClure, and they had a daughter Lauretta. After Edith and Raymond divorced, Edith! then married Spencer E Brown of Niagara County NY & had a daughter Mary L Brown 1926. They lived the Cheektowaga, in Buffalo area in the mid 1920's. Spencer was killed in 1929. Edith then seems to disappear with her 3 year old daughter Mary. Mary Brown did surface in the Chautauqua NY area in the early - mid 1940's. Mary Hoyt after her divorce from John in the 20's, just seems to have disappeared as well. ANY information as to what happened to Mary Simpson Hoyt after her divorce from John such as where she lived or is buried would be greatly appreciated. Same with Edith. ANY information concerning what happened to her after her husband Spencer Brown's death in the Buffalo, NY parachute accident would be most helpful. There is some mentions of a family named West that lived in the Stockton, NY area, a mention of someone with the last name of Merchant, and an Aunt Lill. It would be very good to break down this brick wall, and I will welcome any and all leads, or information. ! I just don't know where to go with this and would love to solve this s o I can proceed in my tree. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. On the Old Fulton postcard site (http://www.fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html ), I found newspapers mentioning the parachute accident. I also found a later paper about the marriage of Dorothy Mae Brown and Robert Preston. I'm not positive the 2 are connected. For the first article, I searched using: "Spencer Brown" parachute And the next box set to "All of the words". Also, Wordnet synonyms is ticked off. Here are the 2 articles with the newspaper reference following each/ JEDDO, July 10.. Everett Albone was In Buffalo on Wednesday last attending the funeral of his brother, Spencer Brown, aged 27, who met his death at the Becker Field when he made his first parachute jump. The parachute caught in a tree breaking his neck almost instantly. Brown was also a brother of Kenneth Oraham of Buffalo, formerly of this place. He was a student in Barker High School some 12 years ago while making his home with Mr. and Mrs James Featherstone of Barker. Brown was a student pilot. He is survived by a wife and child.
