My name is Rita Finley Hilsen and I was born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York. My father, Herbert Ned Finley, practiced dentistry for 39 yesars in a building he had built on Main Street there-- from 1940-1979 (6 months before he died)Rosemary McGuire was his only dental assistant almost the whole time. She was a part of our family. She used to babysit my sister and me. I even have many photographs of her. I loved her and want to know how she died (I was married and had moved to Ne York city in l967.)Rosemary never married, and was a deeply practicing Catholic who never missed mass and was well known in her church. She was tall and very slender, and had bbeen orphaned quite young when her parents both died of tuberculosis. Her two brothers, as far as I know, had nothing to do with her for some reason. She was a heavy smoker (did she develop lung cancer?). She and her first cousin, Ann Fell, lived a great many years together on Whitney Avenue, in what had been my parents' first home after they were married, the home to which they took me when I was born (12/23/41. Ann Fell, who was quite heavy, worked at Jenss Department Store for many, many years, and watched over her only living parent, her elderly father, until his death around the time of my father's (who was much younger). I remember Rosemary being devastated that she lost her uncle and her boss around the same time. There is an interesting "scandal" surrounding Ann, which I will tell you about if you want to hear it and tell me so in your answer. It wouldn't be a scandal any more, but at the time was quite a story. Ann, too, never married, but... and therein lies the "scandal." After what happened,Rosemary was too shocked and angry ever to live again with Ann. When my father died, Rosemary went to work in a Niagara Falls super market. Then we lost touch, but I have wonderful memories of her still. Would love to hear from you.
