Since my original post I have found out that Waldemar Lohrmann did indeed teach at St. Michael's. Anna's father, Fred Shulz was born in Penzin, Mecklenburg Schwerin. Shortly after arriving in NY he married Johanna Kluss. Johanna died in 1875, leaving a young son, Rudolph. Fred remarried Wilhemina Haack, sometime between 1875 & 1877. Wilhemina immigrated with her young daughter, Ernestine, sailing from Bremen and arriving in NY in 1871. It isn't clear whether Haack was Wilhemina's maiden name or if she was a widow and it was her late husband's name. I have not been able to find out where in Germany Wilhemina came from. One record I have says she was from Pomerania, but I don't know if this is correct. She died 2/24/1925 in Buffalo and is burried in Glenwood Cemetery, Lockport.
