Hi Niagara listers, I have run into a problem obtaining a copy of a death certificate for a cousin of my grandmother's who died in Niagara Falls, NY 1962. I phoned the office of the City Clerk before I sent in my inquiry (and money order), and thought I understood the procedure. However, this week my letter was returned stating that I had to present proof my identity, and proof of my relationship to this individual. My purpose in obtaining this document was not to violate a family's privacy, but to obtain genealogical information only. Can someone explain to me just who is entitled to documents in Niagara County? Also, is there anyway I can obtain an abbreviated version of this document, one that does not violate privacy restrictions. Thanks, Tim
