I would like to get a copy of the record and have written to the clerk's offices and been told the records there do not go that far back. Does anyone have know where records from 1851 are stored and how I can access them? Also do you know what information would likely be included on the records of that era? Jemima was visiting in NY at the time and I think this is Joseph in 1850. They later left the U.S. 1850 U. S. Census June 1, 1850 Lockport, Niagra, NY Family 1766 Joseph Moscrop 22 a labourer born in England is living in the household of Edmund Phelps, age 41, farmer. Edmond Phelps and his 2 children were born in Conn and his likely was was born in NY. There is also a Julia Griffin 20 born in Ireland living there. Much thanks for and information or advice that you could offer. What I really want to find is Joseph's birthplace and parents names.
