Sorry to have been unclear about that. The place I inquired was the Niagara Falls City Clerk's office, where I'm certain the particular records I was seeking are held. It's good of you to clarify the interesting (and surprising to out-of-staters) habit of New York towns, villages, and cities of keeping their own BDM records, when people from other states might be accustomed to looking for them at county courthouses. While this often presents problems in rural areas, I had a very positive experience recently when searching for a death "somewhere between Wilson and Olcott." Folks in the town and village of Wilson were most cooperative, and I finally record in Newfane. Elsa in Allegany County, Maryland (visiting Niagara Falls)
