DEWEY Sr. and his wife Suzannah Unknown. John and his wife were born in England and they left there and wound up in New York some time before 1830. They had four children: John H. DEWEY Jr. b. 1830 in Lockport, NY d. 1900 Ohio Eleanor DEWEY b. abt. 1844 Richard DEWEY b. 1842 Lockport, NY, d. 1926 Birch Run, MI James DEWEY b. 1853 NY I have a copy of a census for 1860 which shows this family living in Lockport, Niagra Co. At that time they were living there with their four children. They were living next to the BENTON family. Their son John Dewey Jr. married the BENTONS daughter Susannah BENTON.
