Hi Tressa Just a couple of questions for now. To your knowledge, where was Mary buried? There is a Mary E. Devine buried at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Lockport, as well as a Charles, although they are not buried in the same plot. I had assumed this to be your Mary and Charles but now am a bit uncertain. Researching across the pond to Ireland is not an easy task but I'll try to put together some possibilities for you. Luck plays as big a part as anything. Just for my database, do you know the maiden name of Isabel(le), wife of James? I find them in the census of course but am always anxious to round up specific identities for the database, which at the moment carries about 33,000 names. Will get back to you in a couple of days and hopefully with some thoughts that can help you. She is still always referred to as 'Grandma Devine' in our family. My great-frandfather was James - he died in 1982 when I was very young. Mary moved to Detroit (to be near James? I'm not sure.) at some point, and she died there on 13 Oct 1960. I am originally from Detroit too. > >I'm trying to find any information on Mary's family - brothers, sisters, and parents - that she initially left behind in Ireland. I have heard that she had brothers (or stepbrothers) and that one of them died in WWI, but I have no concrete information or names to go on. I am guessing that her mothers name was Anne because and 'Anne Diver' was listed as a witness on James' birth certificate (he was born in Ireland). > >I do not have a lot of information on James' brothers and sister - I have their names and approximate birth years (and some spouses and children) but do not know when they died. I would love to compare anything you have on them with what I have found from census' and other records. > >I'm having trouble finding anything once I leave the North American documentation - so any tips or tricks you can give me would be great!! Is there anything else you would like to know about Mary? > >Tressa >Reston, VA > >Important Note: >The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
