The Jewish Genealogical Society of Buffalo is featuring a DVD, SUNDAY, October 21 at 1:30 pm in the Lippman Lounge at the Jewish Community Center, Benderson Building, 2640 North Forest Road in Getzville. “The Genographic Project”, is a DVD on the journey of man, which is sponsored by the National Geographic Society. Dr. Spencer Wells, a population geneticist, is the Project Directior of the The Genographic Project . Dr. Wells traveled all over the world, taking DNA samples from indigenous peoples in remote parts of the world tracking the Y chromosomes of men and looking for certain markers that would show up in men on various continents. He started with the Bushmen in Africa and tracked the journey of men to Australia and then on to other parts of the world noting how the ice age had an effect on where people traveled and how that affected the color of man's skin.
