He married Elizabeth Hochadel about 1855 (probably in New York). She was born in October 1833 in Bavaria, Germany and died before 1920 in Erie County, New York. Her mother's name was Mary, born in Bavaria about 1803 (see 1870 Census of Clarence, Erie County, New York). Both John and Elizabeth migrated to the US in about 1852. 1860 Census, Clarence, Erie County, New York, 27 July 1860. Listed are Farmer John 'Doroma' age 30 born in Germany, wife Elizabeth age 26 born in Germany, son John age 4 born in New York and daughter Mina age 1 born in New York. 1870 Census, Clarence, Erie County, New York, 29 June 1870. Listed are Farmer John 'Daumer' age 41 born in Bavaria, wife Elizabeth age 37 born in Bavaria, son John age 14, daughter Mina age 11, son Benjamin age 9, daughter Mary age 7, son Martin age 5, son Joseph age 4 and son Peter age 1. Listed is John Dauman born in November 1830 in Germany and wife Elizabeth born in October 1833 in Germany. Both had immigrated to the US in 1852. They had been married for 45 years. 70 year old John is listed as a Day Laborer. There is no house number, but the census notes "Brewery" rather than a street name.
