It will solve a long standing mystery in this family. MARIA FRIEDERIKE RIECK - Ziehl was born in Sep 1846 in Prussia, and died between January 1920 - 1930 in North Tonawanda, Niagara County, New York. She immagrated to the US about 1860 (according to the 1900 Census). She married CHARLES (aka Carl) CHRISTIAN ZIEHL between Aug - Sep 1870 in Niagara County, New York. He was born Nov 23, 1829 in Locknitz, Uckermark, Brandenburg, Prussia, and died May 15, 1901 in Niagara County, New York. Marriage Notes for MARIA RIECK and CHARLES ZIEHL: Kirwin's Directory of the City of Lockport and County of Niagara for the Year 1878, Page 301. "Ziehl Carl, Martinsville, I 20 R 8 a 49 f". 1880 Census, Wheatfield Township, Niagara County, New York, June 14, 1880. Listed is Charles Ziehl age 50 born in Prussia, wife Maria age 33 born in Prussia, John age 21, Maria age 16, Charles age 15, Frederick age 12, Gustav age 9 and William age 5. Gustav and William were sons of Maria F. Reek. The other children were from Charles' first marriage to wife Mary. All of the children were born in New York. Charles was a Farmer. 1900 Census, Pendelton Township, Niagara County, New York, June 6, 1900. Listed is Carl (Charles) Ziehl born in November 1829 in Germany, wife Maria born in September 1846 in Germany (3 children, but only 2 living) and son Gustav born in May 1871 in New York. Charles had immigrated to the US in 1852, Maria in 1860. 1910 Census, 1301 Cold Spring Avenue, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, April 28, 1910. Listed is Mother and widow 'Mary' Ziehl, age 64, living with son William Ziehl and family. 1920 Census, Creek Road, Pendelton Township, Niagara County, New York, January 12, 1920.
