    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: rtwhalen1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.niagara/3396/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello All I just wrote a couple letters to my State Assembly and State Senate representatives asking them to look into making the NYS Vital Records Index more available and preferably online. Several other states have done this and the index gives no more information than the SSDI already does. We've been paying 22 dollars per record for quite some time now and I think they've made enough to attempt a project like the digitization of the index. As always we can have more of an impact on our representatives with larger numbers so I would truly love it if my fellow NYS Genealogists wrote in to their representatives as well. If anyone wants to discuss it further feel free to message me. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: SDickinsonVanDaele Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.niagara/717.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Pamela, I am the ggggrandaughter of Amos Dickinson. One of his sons (my gggrandfather was named Henry Townsend Dickinson. I am trying to trace back beyond Amos and Paul Gifford has been very helpful. One thing I know beyond question was that the same names you mention were common in my line of the Dickinson family and that the passing down of family names was beyond common. I have just been checking out Zebulon Dickinson, father of Townsend Dickinson. One of his sons was named Samuel, who I believe may be Amos father. Our family records indicate that Samuel was the name of Amos' father, but never knew where Henry Townsend Dickinson got his middle name from. I was alway pretty sure that there had to be a Townsend that it came from. This makes the most sense to me and if you can shed any light on it or if I can help you, I'd be happy to correspond. Thanks, Sharon Dickinson Van Daele Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. On the Old Fulton postcard site (http://www.fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html ), I found newspapers mentioning the parachute accident. I also found a later paper about the marriage of Dorothy Mae Brown and Robert Preston. I'm not positive the 2 are connected. For the first article, I searched using: "Spencer Brown" parachute And the next box set to "All of the words". Also, Wordnet synonyms is ticked off. Here are the 2 articles with the newspaper reference following each/ JEDDO, July 10.. Everett Albone was In Buffalo on Wednesday last attending the funeral of his brother, Spencer Brown, aged 27, who met his death at the Becker Field when he made his first parachute jump. The parachute caught in a tree breaking his neck almost instantly. Brown was also a brother of Kenneth Oraham of Buffalo, formerly of this place. He was a student in Barker High School some 12 years ago while making his home with Mr. and Mrs James Featherstone of Barker. Brown was a student pilot. He is survived by a wife and child. The Niagara Falls Gazette, July 9 1931, pg 18, col 2 SOUTH VALLEY PRESTON-BROWN Sunday afternoon at the Christian parsonage, the Rev. Myron Tripp, pastor, united in marriage Miss Dorothy Mae Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Brown and Robert Preston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Preston, Decatur, using the single ring ceremony. They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Everette Sternburg, sister and brother-in-law of the groom. The bride was attired in a tailored suit of powder blue and the brides' maid wore a suit of dusty rose and both wore corsages of chrysanthe- mums. After the ceremony, a reception for the immediate families was held at the home of the bride's parents. Mrs. Preston attended Cherry Valley High school and Mr. Preston at- tended Worcester High school. They will reside on the groom's farm near Butler's Corners. The Otsego Farmer, Sept 26 1947, pg 3, col 5 -- Glen Johnson Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~wmjohnson1832 married Raymond McClure, and they had a daughter Lauretta. After Edith and Raymond divorced, Edith! then married Spencer E Brown of Niagara County NY & had a daughter Mary L Brown 1926. They lived the Cheektowaga, in Buffalo area in the mid 1920's. Spencer was killed in 1929. Edith then seems to disappear with her 3 year old daughter Mary. Mary Brown did surface in the Chautauqua NY area in the early - mid 1940's.
